Souvenirs of somewhere — A travel junk journal workshop
We take hundreds of photos on holiday and in our everyday summer moments — yet rarely look at them once the season is over. The same goes for all the little paper treasures we pick up along the way: concert tickets, beer coasters, restaurant menus, flyers, napkins… they end up forgotten in a drawer somewhere. What a waste of beautiful memories.
What if you turned them into something you’d actually want to look at?
Here’s the idea: over the coming summer months, start paying attention to the paper ephemera that crosses your path — whether you’re travelling abroad or enjoying a staycation at home. Collect it all: event tickets, maps, packaging, stickers, shopping bags, children’s drawings, handwritten notes, wrapping paper, posters… the list is wonderfully endless. Add your favourite photos, a few quotes, a story or two, and you’ll have everything you need.
Then, at the end of summer, we’ll get together and turn that collection into something truly special.
During the workshop, you’ll bind it all into a travel junk journal — a deeply personal keepsake that’s part scrapbook, part artwork, part memory capsule. Something you can display on your coffee table and reach for on a grey November afternoon when you need a little sunshine.
No experience needed. I’ll walk you through basic book anatomy, an easy binding technique (tools provided), and how to create beautiful, cohesive layouts from your «junk». Just bring your collection, your favourite art supplies if you have them(materials will be provided), your curiosity — and we’ll create together.
